Seaford shoplifting suspect arrested after assaulting employees

SEAFORD, Del. – The Seaford Police Department arrested a man for shoplifting and assaulting store employees at the Save-A-Lot grocery store.

It happened June 25 around 4:16 p.m.

Following an investigation, it was determined Cornell Bailey was observed shoplifting by an employee.

When he was confronted, Bailey pushed them away.

Another employee rushed over and was grabbed by the neck and thrown to the ground by Bailey, and was injured in the process.

The employee’s cell phone fell to the floor and was taken by Bailey.

A third employee attempted to stop him as he exited the store and was also shoved against the wall by their neck.

Bailey was arrested and charged with first degree robbery, second degree assault, shoplifting and offensive touching.

He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institute on more than $23,000 secured bail.
