Preparing Pets for Fourth of July
MARYLAND- As Americans everywhere prepare for the festivities of the Fourth of July, pet-owners are preparing to keep their furry friends safe and calm for the holiday.
Sara Smith, the Director of Marketing for the Brandywine Valley SPCA, suggests the celebrations do not have to stop, owners simply just have to prepare.
“One of the things you can do right now is plan ahead for your pets during the time of the holidays.” Said Smith. “You know, give them a quiet, cool, place to relax while you have your friends and family over for gatherings.”
Many pet stores offer over the counter remedies, from CBD treats to compression jackets meant to calm your pet down. But there may be some more simple tips that work just as well.
“You know another thing to think about is those fireworks, giving them a place in your home thats quiet, or maybe you have a TV or a radio for them that you can leave on to drown out those loud bangs and booms, just to keep the stress level; a little bit lower.” Said Smith.
Smith says the most important tip, is knowing your pet and their needs.
