Pittsville Teen Barricaded for Three Hours After Assaulting Family
PITTSVILLE, Md. – The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) responded to a multi-hour long barricade incident on Wednesday morning.
At 9:37 a.m. on Jun 3., deputies responded to the 6000 block of Morris Road for a reported assault. Upon arrival, deputies learned that a 16-year-old had allegedly assaulted members of his household before barricading himself in a bedroom while reportedly in possession of a firearm.
Members of the WCSO Hostage Negotiation Team, Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team, and the Salisbury Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics team all responded to assist. A secure perimeter was established around the residence, and the public was notified to avoid the area shortly after 11:00 a.m.
Deputies say that, following approximately three hours of negotiations, the juvenile surrendered and was taken into custody without incident. After the arrest, a search and seizure warrant was executed on the residence, but detectives were unable to locate any firearms.
WCSO says the investigation remains active and ongoing, and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
