One Hospitalized after Delmar House Fire

DELMAR, Md. – A Delmar house fire sent one to the hospital for minor smoke inhalation on Tuesday afternoon.

At 1:49 p.m. on Jun. 2, multiple fire companies responded to East Pine Street after a fire alarm was triggered at a two-story residence. Crews arrived to find smoke and fire showing on the back corner of the house, with exposure to a recreational vehicle.

A total of 40 firefighters from Delmar and Salisbury Fire Departments, as well as the Hebron, Laurel, Sharptown, and Mardela Springs Volunteer Fire Companies, battled the blaze for an hour. The total damage to the house and its contents is estimated to be valued at $250,000. Three residents have been displaced as a result.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal responded to determine the cause of the fire, which remains under investigation.
