Ocean Pines Flounder Tournament Awards More Than $12,000 in Prize Money

OCEAN PINES, Md. — Anglers from across Delmarva competed in the annual Ocean Pines Chamber of Commerce Flounder Tournament on Saturday, with more than $12,000 in prize money awarded during the event.
Hosted by the Worcester County Chamber of Commerce in Ocean Pines in partnership with Fish in OC, the tournament featured 40 boats competing for cash prizes and bragging rights
The tournament’s top prize went to Ken Yuen, fishing aboard Miller Time Charter out of Ocean City, captained by Brandon Miller. Yuen landed the tournament-winning flounder, weighing 4.04 pounds, earning the team the tournament’s $5,000 first-place prize.
The winning charter enjoyed an impressive day on the water, with Christina Pilley also fishing aboard Miller Time Charter and finishing in second place. Pilley earned $1,500 for her catch. Combined with Calcutta winnings, the charter team took home more than $10,500 in total prize money.
Kevin Donald Sr. finished third, earning more than $1,500 in combined winnings.
In total, tournament organizers awarded $7,000 in prize money and an additional $5,100 through Calcuttas, bringing the overall payout to $12,100.
Tournament officials called this year’s event a success and are already looking ahead to a milestone celebration. The 20th annual Ocean Pines Flounder Tournament is scheduled for next year, and organizers say they hope to increase sponsorships to offer $20,000 in cash prizes for competitors.
The annual tournament continues to draw anglers from throughout the region while supporting the Worcester County Chamber of Commerce and promoting recreational fishing along Maryland’s coastal waters.
