No Injuries after Small Aircraft Lands on Assawoman Bay
OCEAN CITY, Md. – Seacrets’ patrons were treated to an unusual view on Sunday afternoon when an aircraft landed in Assawoman Bay behind the restaurant.
The Ocean City Fire Department says emergency responders were notified of a small aircraft incident in the Bay around 2:15 p.m. on May 31. The aircraft, identified as a SeaRey, a two-seat, single-engine amphibious flying boat, landed on the water when what appeared to be one of its stabilizing floats, also known as sponsons, became detached. Officials say the aircraft remained somewhat afloat, and no injuries were reported.
The incident is being handled by the Maryland Natural Resources Police and the U.S. Coast Guard. Authorities say additional details will be released as they become available and are pertinent.
