SALISBURY, Md. – The City of Salisbury has announced the return and expansion of its free summer programming opportunities.

City leaders say Game On! is returning to Lake Street Playground and expanding this summer to include Doverdale Park and Playground. Developed in partnership with City Council President April Jackson, the program was created to increase access to structured play and outdoor activities within City parks, helping children stay active and engaged close to home.

Further, Game On! is free of charge and open to all families, with no registration required. Recreation staff members will be on-site to lead games, organize activities, and create a welcoming environment where children can enjoy active play throughout the summer. The program will take place Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., from Jul. 1 through Aug. 14. Additionally, free lunch for children under the age of 18 will be provided at both Game On! locations daily at 12:00 p.m., in partnership with Wicomico County Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services.

“I’m excited to see these programs grow and reach more young people across our community,” said Community Relations Manager Rachel Manning. “This summer, I hope even more youth will take advantage of the chance to get outside, make new friends, and have fun.”

The City is also highlighting expanded summer programming at the Newton Community Center, which will be open Monday through Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. During this time, free lunch will also be served daily at noon for children under 18.

“These programs are an investment in our neighborhoods and our youth,” said Mayor Randy Taylor, “By providing free meals and activities throughout the summer, we are creating more opportunities for children and families right here in Salisbury.”

The program will officially kick off on Jun. 30, with kickoff events taking place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at both Lake Street Playground and Doverdale Park and Playground. To celebrate, the City says kickoff events will feature bounce houses, snacks, and a variety of games and activities for kids to enjoy.
