Dead Body Found in Woods Behind Dover DMV; Capitol Police Investigating

DOVER, Del. – The Delaware Capitol Police are conducting a death investigation in a wooded area behind the Dover Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Just before 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, officers responded to the Transportation Circle after being notified by Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) employees that a dead body had been discovered by members of a state service agency.

Delaware Capitol Police detectives, with assistance from the Delaware State Police, are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. The body was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science to determine the cause and manner of death.

Authorities say the identity of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin. No additional information about the victim is currently available.

Police say there is no public safety concern related to this incident, and foul play is not suspected. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
