City Minute: What’s Happening in June
SALISBURY, Md. – In this week’s City Minute, WMDT’s John Trout and City of Salisbury Communications Director Jordan Ray discuss events coming to the city in June as summer kicks into full spring.
For starters, some music is coming to the Pohanka Riverwalk Amphitheater on Jun. 12. The Great Train Robbery will be performing a free concert from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. It’s a great chance to enjoy live music downtown, with food and beverages available from Savour Restaurant, just around the corner.
One week later, come back Downtown for Third Friday! This month’s theme is Luau — all attendees are encouraged to wear their Hawaiian shirts and while enjoying the festivities. Plus, get some shopping done ahead of Father’s Day with promotions from local businesses.
Third Friday also happens to fall on Juneteenth. City offices will be closed in observance of the holiday on Jun. 19, but several community events have also been planned to recognize the day. In the morning at Salisbury City Park, How We Build will be hosting a Juneteenth 5K; and, on Jun. 20, the Eastern Shore Juneteenth Parade will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m on the Downtown Plaza.
Lastly, be sure to check out the Zoobilee on Jun. 27 at Salisbury University, focused on celebrating another great year for the Salisbury Zoo.
