Snow Hill residents hit the polls today to vote for their next mayor and town council.

Town Manager Rick Pollitt said voting is a necessity for a long-lasting and sustainable community. “The town is only as strong as the participation of its citizens, and we look for them to take a role. This is their responsibility, we always talk about rights as humans, but we have rights as citizens as well.”

Incumbent Janet Simpson and challenger Rob Hall are on the ballot for the mayor’s position.

Ethan Shockley is on the ballot for the Eastern District, but did not want to be interviewed, but residents were able to speak with him outside the polling site.
