UPDATE: Motorcyclist Identified in Fatal Selbyville Motorcycle Crash

UPDATE: The Delaware State Police has identified 56-year-old Robert Riden of Frankford as the man who died in a fatal motorcycle crash on Lighthouse Road in Selbyville on Wednesday.

This crash remains under investigation.

 

SELBYVILLE, Del. – The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that claimed the life of a Frankford man on Wednesday morning.

At 1:20 a.m. on May 20, police say a Harley-Davidson Road King motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Lighthouse Road approaching the area of Fenwick Shoals Boulevard in Selbyville. For reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle failed to negotiate a slight left curve and ran off the roadway, striking a concrete-and-metal safety barrier.

The motorcycle operator, a 56-year-old man from Frankford, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released at this time.

The roadway was closed for approximately four hours during the initial investigation.

The crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.  Troopers ask anyone who witnessed or has information about the crash to contact Master Corporal R.
