Stephen Decatur boy’s lacrosse advances to semifinals in weather-shortened victory

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. – Stephen Decatur boy’s lacrosse advanced to the MPSSAA 2A Semifinals with a 9-2 victory over the Centennial Eagles.

Centennial struck first early in the first quarter, but the Seahawks responded with goals from Ashton March, Paxton Jack, and John Fohner to build a 3-1 lead by the end of the period.

Decatur continued to build momentum as the game approached halftime, taking a 7-2 lead into the break.

Two more tallies in the first three minutes of the third quarter made it 9-2 in favor of the Seahawks before the game was suspended due to nearby thunder and lightning. After a nearly two-hour long delay, Centennial decided to forfeit the remainder of the game, stamping the Seahawk victory.

Stephen Decatur will play undefeated Huntingtown at Glen Burnie High School on Friday at 7 p.m. in the MPSSAA 2A Semifinal.

Decatur girl’s lacrosse will also play in the 2A Semifinal at Glen Burnie, facing off against Centennial girl’s lacrosse at 5 p.m. on Friday.
