UPDATE: The Maryland Department of Natural Resources Fisheries says the boat ramp renovation project at Leonards Mill Park in Wicomico County has been completed, replacing the aging existing ramp.

The improvements, which began at the end of Jan., include a new cast-in-place concrete ramp, side flank walls constructed with vinyl bulkhead sheeting and timber wales, and fixed timber boarding docks matching the previous configuration.

Officials say Maryland’s boating community made this improvement possible through Maryland vessel excise taxes and a portion of the state fuel tax attributed to boaters. Maryland State Waterway Improvement Funding grants were also awarded to the county, covering the total $250,944 project cost.

SALISBURY, Md. – Leonards Mill boat ramp, located adjacent to the Wicomico County Welcome Center, will close for replacement beginning Feb. 1.

The pavilion, dog park, parking lot, and portalets will remain accessible for use.

The project is slated to be complete by mid-April.
