Discover Delmarva Arts: Worcester County Arts Council
BERLIN, Md. — This year, the Worcester County Arts Council is celebrating 50 years of supporting and uplifting local artists. Executive Director Anna Mullis says their mission is simple.
“Our mission is to support and promote all art activities and cultural events in the county and beyond. We are all about community and I think art is essential to everyone’s life,” Mullis said.
Visit their main gallery in Berlin, and you’ll find a beautiful display of art by local painters and artists working with all sorts of mediums — like glass, fiber, photography, and pottery.
“We see how art benefits our community — how the community becomes thriving and vibrant. This is extremely important for our organization to provide this support.”
Their satellite gallery at the Berlin branch of the Worcester County Library for local artist features. Through funding from the Maryland State Arts Council, the nonprofit holds art programs at local schools so everyone in the community can engage with the arts.
“Our role in the community is tied directly to our mission to support the artists and community organizations through funding. It is very important, and without the support the community wouldn’t be as it is right now.”
They do it all to uplift local artists and make the arts accessible to all.
“This is essential to keep our community vibrant and keep our community happy through the arts.”
