Charlie Paparella Gets Nostalgic During Golden Hour
SALISBURY, Md. – In this week’s edition of Back on the Road with Charlie Paparella, brought to you by Furniture & More Gone Coastal, Charlie reflects on his time with Charles Norris “Scorchy” Tawes and on what he had to say about golden hour.
Charlie tells us that Scorchy often said, “Any good photographer is a lucky photographer — but only the best knows when the luck is running.”
But Scorchy also frequently commented on golden hour, which Charlie describes as those moments between darkness and light where the world is painted in black and gold.
“Over the years, I’ve photographed countless sunsets, fascinated by the grandeur of the moment,” Charlie says. “But, now I know what touches me so deeply is the piece of that moment. A day is coming or a day is gone, and our dear planet is slowly turning; moving from where it can see us, to where is cannot.”
Charlie says it’s in those moments, especially in the evening, he feels the light’s presence.
