Blades Residents Without Water Since Wednesday

BLADES, Del. — Residents are reporting they have been without water for going on two days.
Mayor Nancy McAdams confirmed a water main break on Third Street at about 10 a.m. Wednesday knocked out water for residents living on Second, Third and Fourth streets, adding there is a foot-long slit in the pipe.
Town utility crews have been working to identify the origin of the leak and fix it, digging a large hole on Third Street to make repairs.
Since the pipe break, Mayor McAdams says town staff have been delivering bottled water to the affected residents and will continue to do so until the leak is repaired.
This isn’t the first time Blades has suffered water woes. In 2018, then-Delaware Governor John Carney mobilized the Army National Guard to deliver potable water to residents following chemical contamination issues. Residents went without running water for nearly two weeks, waiting for a new filtration system to be installed.
Mayor McAdams assures residents the outage is expected to be repaired by 4:30 p.m. today.
