80-Year-Old Goldsboro Man Killed in Felton Crash; DSP Investigating

FELTON, Del. – The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that killed an elderly driver on Sunday.

At 4:50 p.m. on May 10, a Kia Sorento was traveling northbound on Sandtown Road, south of Willow Grove Road in Felton. A preliminary investigation revealed that the Sorento was traveling at an apparent high rate of speed when it passed two vehicles in a no passing zone. The car proceeded to fail to negotiate a curve. As a result, the Sorento exited the west edge of the road and struck two unoccupied commercial trucks and trailers in a parking lot.

The driver, an 80-year-old man from Goldsboro, Maryland, was not properly restrained and taken to an area hospital where he died. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
