15-Year-Old Arrested after Police Pursuit through Kent Co.
KENT COUNTY, Del. – The Delaware State Police have arrested a 15-year-old from Sudlersville, Maryland, following a police pursuit that occurred on Monday night.
Police say the Maryland teen is charged with felony theft of a motor vehicle, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, resisting arrest, and related charges. He has since been arraigned and released to a parent or guardian on a $5,260 unsecured bond.
On May 25, at approximately 10:20 p.m., troopers learned that a white 2023 Chevrolet Silverado, with a trailer attached, had just been stolen on the 1400 block of Arthursville Road in Hartly.
Through using the victim’s GPS tracking on the vehicle, troopers located the Silverado on POW/MIA Parkway and tried to pull it over, but the car sped away. During the pursuit, the Silverado traveled at a high rate of speed and at a reckless manner on several Kent County roads. The Silverado ultimately came to a stop after traveling through the grass median on South Dupont Highway near Longacre Drive, and crashed when the suspect failed to negotiate a turn. After the crash, the suspect ran away but was quickly taken into custody.
Police also say the crash damaged property at a nearby business.
