Wicomico Health Dept. hosts 5K Color Run Festival to support mental health awareness

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. — The Wicomico County Health Department is hosting their fourth annual 5K color run festival.

The goal is to spread mental health awareness and suicide prevention efforts. Speakers at the event will share their stories, and the resources that helped support them along the way.
There will also be a DJ, dancing, and games. There will also be a visit from Journey the therapy pony and four local mascots. The event partners up with TidalHealth, Pure Fitness and Paradise Water Sports. Organizers are also calling on the community for help with a key part of the event,

Event Coordinator, Jessica Taylor said, “We will have the need for volunteers. This is a big one where you’re on the course and you get to throw powder at people. So, you don’t necessarily get dirty unless you embrace that and you want to have all the powder all over you and have fun with that. But we have all different kinds of color powder.”

The event is free and is set for April 25th from 8:30 AM to 12 PM . If you are interested in volunteering, you can sign up here.
