UPDATE: MSP Investigating Fatal Crash Involving Lawn Mower, Pickup Truck in Caroline Co.

UPDATE: The Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash that killed one on Wednesday afternoon in Caroline County.

The deceased driver of the John Deere lawnmower is identified as 42-year-old Joel Garcia of Denton. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The driver of a Toyota Tundra, a 32-year-old male, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

No further details about the crash have been announced at this time. Officials say lanes were closed for more than six hours for the crash investigation.

DENTON, Md. – One person is dead following a crash between a lawn mower and pickup truck in Caroline County.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Easton Barrack responded to the area of Burrsville Road near Garland Road for the reported crash.

An initial investigation indicates a zero turn mower was traveling on the westbound shoulder of Burrsville Road, when for unknown reasons, a Toyota Tundra left the road and hit the lawn mower.

The driver of the lawn mower was pronounced dead on the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

The investigation is on-going.
