Stephen Decatur comeback bid falls just short against Broadneck

Berlin, Md. – Stephen Decatur boy’s lacrosse fell 12-10 at the hands of Broadneck Tuesday night in Berlin.

The Seahawks started quick, jumping out to a 4-0 lead with goals from Brody Lynch, Ashton March, and John Fohner.

Down 5-2 with five minutes to play in the first half, Broadneck found a quick three-goal run to tie the game at the break. The Bruins then built on that momentum, ripping off five unanswered in the first ten minutes of the second half.

It wasn’t until the 1:33 mark of the second quarter that Stephen Decatur broke the drought with a low-angle goal from March. Fohner followed quickly with a tally of his own to give the Seahawks life, heading into the final period trailing 10-7.

Fohner found the back of the net to get the scoring started in the fourth, then Gavin Geiser got on the board to narrow the margin to just one goal at 10-9 with nine minutes to play in the game.

Broadneck added an insurance goal with two and a half minutes remaining, and despite the Decatur response from Parker Mason to make it 11-10, the visiting Bruins were able to hold on for a hard-fought victory.
