QUEENTOWN, Md. – The Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff arrested a woman for driving under the influence (DUI) on Saturday evening after police say she left the scene of a crash.

Troopers arrested 28-year-old Alix Thielemann of Queenstown on charges of DUI, reckless and negligent driving, and related traffic charges.

At 7:07 p.m. on Apr. 4, deputies were dispatched to Bennett Point Road for a report of property damage from a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, a deputy observed an unoccupied vehicle on the side of the road with its airbags deployed and a metal chain attached to it, as well as a broken-in-half utility pole. Dispatch provided the vehicle’s registered owner’s names and address, tying the vehicle to Thielemann who resided nearby. Deputies responded to the residence, where Thielemann answered, admitting to having been driving the vehicle. Deputies transported her back to the crash scene. While speaking with Thielemann, deputies detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. Thielemann agreed to submit to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which she failed, and was placed under arrest. She was later offered a BAC test which she refused to submit to.
