Prescribed burn in Pittsville spreads, causes wildland fire
PITTSVILLE, Md. – The Pittsville Volunteer Fire Department responding to a wildland fire Wednesday evening.
It happened on Powell Road off of Sixty Foot Road.
When WMDT was at the fire, dark, thick smoke could be seen coming out of the tree line.
The Pittsville Volunteer Fire Department confirmed it was a prescribed, controlled burn that went out of control.
We’re told the fire is now under control and there is no threat to the public.
Powell Road in Pittsville was closed while crews worked to put out the flames.
