K9 Drive-Thru Sticker Fundraiser
Laurel, DE – The Laurel Police Department is partnering with the Laurel Women’s Civic Club to host a drive-thru sticker fundraiser Saturday, April 18th from 1 to 3 p-m.
The fundraiser supports the police department’s K9 initiative. Once at the Drive, every person that donates will be handed a sticker that says, “I support Laurel Police Department.” There will also be a bake sale.
Captain Tyler Bryan said, “The dogs are about $12,000. They can go up to $14,000 because they’re they’re patrol ready dogs. They’ve been tested. But that pays for the dog, their kennel, their food, their training, the outfit of a car which is fairly expensive, and all their vet bills and everything.”
All of the proceeds will go to the K9 foundation and will support their two new dogs.
“The canine unit is pretty much self-funded, so it’s not something that we it’s in our capital budget for the police department. It comes up every about every ten years.” Captain Bryan explained.
Their oldest k9, Grimm will be coming up on his 10 years. Not only will this fundraiser help the Laurel Police Department, but this will also help other departments in the state of Delaware.
Captain Bryan says every little bit helps. The event will take place at 1110 West 6th Street in Laurel, Delaware.
