MILLSBORO, Del. – The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company (IRVFC) responded to a large structure fire that destroyed several golf carts in the early hours of Sunday morning.

At 2:52 a.m. on Apr. 26, crews were alerted for a fire with nature unknown near Pinebark Cove within Pot Nets Lakeside. Additional reports heard booms before seeing flames from the boat yard area. IVRFC says Incident Command was on location and could see fire showing from the golf cart storage area behind Indian River Golf Carts, but needed to gain access for the secured fencing area. The fire was ultimately upgraded to a commercial structure fire with heavy smoke showing from a 60 x 40 garage style structure.

IRVFC was assisted by the Lewes and Millsboro fire companies, the Mid Sussex Rescue Squad, and the Sussex County Paramedics. Other mutual aid companies were alerted to provide standby cover up assignments.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating this incident.
