Free early childhood fair draws families in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. — Families from across Wicomico County gathered Saturday for a free community event aimed at supporting early childhood education and celebrating local heroes.

The “Early Childhood Fair: Superheroes of Our Town,” hosted by the Wicomico County Judy Center Early Learning Hub, took place April 11 at the Centre at Salisbury Mall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event featured hands-on activities for children, along with information for families about prekindergarten and kindergarten programs. Organizers also offered resources for child care providers and Head Start professionals through a Professional Activities Unit (PAU) opportunity.

Children and families had the chance to enjoy live entertainment by Uncle Devin, as well as interact with vendors, participate in activities, and enter prize giveaways.

The fair was supported by Wicomico County Public Schools and the Maryland State Department of Education, with additional involvement from community partners focused on early childhood development.

Although the event took place over the weekend, it gained broader attention after being featured in local news coverage on Monday, highlighting the importance of early learning resources and community engagement in preparing children for school success.
