Four Displaced after Large House Fire in Grasonville; Marshals Investigating

GRASONVILLE, Md. – The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a house fire that displaced four in the early hours of Friday morning.

At 12:57 a.m. on Apr. 10, crews with the Grasonville Volunteer Fire Department and other local fire companies responded to a residence on Captain Court after a neighbor discovered a fire originating in the home’s garage. They were able to alert the family of four inside, and all members escaped safely.

A total of 59 firefighters battled the blaze for an hour before extinguishing the fire. The total damage to the home and its contents is estimated to be valued at $500,000. The displaced family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The preliminary cause of the fire remains under investigation. Anyone with information in reference to the fire is asked to contact the Upper Eastern Regional Office at 410-819-3500.
