Fatal Bicycle Crash Kills One in Laurel; DSP Investigating
LAUREL, Del. – The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal bicycle crash that killed one on Sunday night.
A bicyclist, who has not yet been identified, was taken to an area hospital where he died. The driver of a Ford Explorer, a 75-year-old-man from Delmar, Delaware, was not injured in the crash.
At 9:10 p.m. on Apr. 19, the cyclist was traveling in the westbound lane of Shiloh Church Road, near Turkey Knob Road. Police say, the Explorer was simultaneously traveling westbound when the right front of the Explorer struck the bicycle, and the rider was ejected.
The roadway was closed(Opens in a new window.) for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
