Commercial fire damages office building in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Del. — Firefighters responded to a commercial structure fire Saturday afternoon along Lewes Georgetown Highway, authorities said.

The Georgetown Fire Company was dispatched at about 4:41 p.m. April 11, 2026, along with Georgetown EMS/Station 93, Millsboro Fire Company, and Milton Fire Department Inc. Sta. 85 to the 22000 block of Lewes Georgetown Highway for a reported fire.

Assistant Chief Baker arrived to find a 12-by-20-foot shed with flames showing and fire extending into a nearby office building, officials said.

Crews worked to contain the blaze and remained on scene for about an hour before clearing. No additional details, including injuries or the cause of the fire, were immediately available.
