Burn ban issued for Somerset County

Somerset County

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Somerset County Board of Commissioners has issued a ban on outdoor burning.

On the advice of the Somerset County Fire Chiefs, President Charles Laird of the Board of Commissioners, has imposed a temporary ban on outdoor burning.  This applies to plant and trash burning, campfires, fireworks and other similar sources of open fire.  Cooking with contained barbecues and charcoal grills are not affected by this ban.

This is the result of low rainfall, and the ban will be lifted when sufficient rainfall occurs.

This follows the burn ban that was imposed Monday in Wicomico County.
