Accidental Fire Destroys Shed in Caroline Co.

PRESTON, Md. – The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal has determined a fire that destroyed a shed in Caroline County to be accidental.

At 8:49 a.m. on Friday, Apr. 17, crews with the Preston Volunteer Fire Company responded to a residence in the 24000 block of Friendship Road after a passerby discovered a fire at the house’s shed. The fire reportedly originated at the shed and spread to the surrounding outbuildings and property. A sole occupant was notified and evacuated from the residence.

The fire was extinguished in 20 minutes by a crew of 19 firefighters. The total damage to the buildings and their contents is valued at $20,000.
