The Brightside: Another successful Rock & Roll Revival

SALISBURY, Md. – While Rock & Roll Revival at James M. Bennett (JMB) High School wrapped up a couple weeks ago, we’re highlighting the hard working students that put on the production in this weeks edition of The Brightside, brought to you by Choptank Electric Cooperative.

Over one hundred high school students gave the 27th annual Rock & Roll Revival performance their all. From back stage crew, to the singers and dancers, everyone played an integral part in the production.

“Nobody really knows what happens behind the curtains or behind the stage,” says JMB senior Abigail Saulitis. “There’s a lot more moving pieces than it appears, and I think they don’t realize that because it is so seamless because we practice so much. There’s so much happening between the dressing rooms and we have the cast cafe, we have so much equipment back stage and we have costume change rooms for changing backstage. It’s just a whole bunch of pieces.”

The performance blends songs from the 1960s through the early 2000s, and Abigail is back on stage for her third year, dancing to the music.

“I’ve always had a love for the dance in the show, and as soon as I could, I jumped at the opportunity to become one,” she says.

Her friend, Addison Bozman sang right beside her. Addison tells WMDT that the entire crew learns something new from each performance, and that the memories she made from each show will stick with her forever.

“This is such a great experience, not only for the cast, but for the audience as well,” she says. “It’s just such a good connection to music and you get to see a bunch of high school students in the show. Whether it’s back stage or on stage, everyone has an important role.”
