Six Displaced After Garage Fire in Caroline Co.; Fire Marshals Investigating
DENTON, Md. – The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a garage fire that displaced six people on Sunday evening.
At 5:44 p.m. on Mar. 29, crews with the Denton Volunteer Fire Company and other local companies responded to a structure fire on Shore Highway. The fire originated on the exterior of a detached garage on the property, located next to the primary residence. A passerby discovered the blaze and alerted the occupants of the home.
A total of 45 firefighters battled the flames for an hour before extinguishing it. The fire caused significant damage to the detached garage and ultimately spread to part of the dwelling. The total damage to the structures and their contents is estimated to be valued at $300,000. A preliminary cause has not been determined at this time.
The displaced family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
