Salisbury University Theatre Presents Into The Woods

SALISBURY, Md. — Students in Salisbury University’s theatre program are bringing a classic fairy-tale mash-up to the stage this weekend with their production of Into The Woods. The musical weaves together stories like Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and several others.

“The music is really fun. It’s one of Stephen Sondheim’s more melodical musicals. I think because these are these fairytale and folktale characters, that we all immediately watch and have buy in and can put ourselves in the characters,” Director Jamie McKittrick said.

The show features a cast of student performers and songs by composer Stephen Sondheim. Performances run throughout the weekend at the Jackson Family Auditorium inside Holloway Hall. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and at 2 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

“I think we have something that is artful and specific and lovely in all aspects. I think it’s really gorgeous to look at — from the lighting design to the scenic design, and the costume design. It’s going to be on its own a really exciting piece of theater to come see.”
