Popcorn Machine Causes Fire at Cambridge Premier Cinemas

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The Rescue Fire Company was dispatched to Cambridge Premier Cinemas on Thursday afternoon after a popcorn machine caught fire.
Around 3:30 p.m. on Mar. 5, volunteer firefighters were dispatched for a reported building fire. Units arrived to find smoke coming from the doors of the building. Crews quickly located the fire, which had begun to spread from the ignited machine. Officials say the fire was mitigated by the building’s sprinkler system.
Firefighters extinguished the remaining fire, completed overhaul, and ventilated the building to remove smoke.
In a statement posted to social media, Cambridge Premier Cinemas announced that they would be closed until further notice due to “unforeseen technical difficulties.” Any online presales for future showings will be automatically refunded to ticket holders. Any in person tickets purchased can be redeemed for readmit passes once the business reopens.
In the meantime, moviegoers can visit alternative Premium Cinemas locations in Easton and Ocean City.
