Parksley Residents Warned of Individuals Posing as Health Dept. Workers

PARKSLEY, Va. – The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) is warning Parksley residents of two women posing as employees of the Virginia Health Department (VHD).

Authorities say they have received reports of two women going door-to-door in the areas of Hernandez Drive and Mirina Road, telling residents they need to conduct septic inspections. They are reportedly asking to enter homes, questioning how many people live in the residence, and inquiring as to when occupants are typically home. The women are reportedly driving a silver Toyota Corolla with Pennsylvania license plates.

The VHD has confirmed that these individuals are not employed by the agency.

In light of these scamming attempts, ACSO is reminding residents of the following:

  • Do not allow unknown individuals into your home
  • Always ask for identification from anyone claiming to represent a government agency
  • If you are unsure, contact the agency directly to verify
  • Report suspicious activity immediately

If you encounter these individuals or observe suspicious activity, contact ACSO at (757) 787-1131 or call 911 if you feel unsafe.
