Multiple Companies Respond to Garage Fire in Marydel; Marshals Investigating

MARYDEL, Md. – The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a fire that destroyed a garage in Caroline County.

At 3:52 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 6, crews from the Marydel, Hartly, Goldsboro, and Sudlersville Volunteer Fire Companies, in addition to the Greensboro Fire Department responded to non-dwelling structure fire on Stafford Road. Upon arrival, crews located an active fire inside a 30 foot by 40 foot detached garage. In total, 25 firefighters worked for approximately an hour to extinguish the blaze.

The total damage to the structure and its contents is estimated to be valued at $260,000.

The homeowners were at the residence at the time of the fire, and immediately called 911 upon discovering the fire. The preliminary cause of the fire remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Upper Eastern Regional Office at 410-819-3500.
