MD Fire Marshals Investigating Incendiary Fire in Queen Anne’s Co.

CHESTER, Md. – The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating an incendiary fire that displaced 10 people on Saturday night.

At 8:27 p.m. on Mar. 7, crews with the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department and other local companies responded to an apartment on Main Street after residents reported a fire. For 20 minutes, 25 firefighters battled the blaze originating on the exterior of the structure. There were no smoke alarms present in the home.

The total damage to the structure and its contents is estimated to be valued at $130,000.

Fire marshals say their initial investigation revealed the exterior of residence was intentionally set on fire while it was occupied. No arrests have been made at this time.
