Maryland Delmar HS students could see more Maryland scholarship opportunities

Annapolis, Md. – Legislation at the state level could make a big impact for Delmar High School students from Maryland. Senate Bill 728, sponsored by Eastern Shore Senators Mary Beth Carozza and Johnny Mautz, would make Maryland students attending the Delaware-based high school eligible for the Community College Promise Scholarship. Carozza says the bill would enable the students to have the same scholarship opportunities as all other Maryland students.

“So, what the legislation did, it allowed the Delmar High School students to be eligible for the Maryland Promise Scholarship, and it shouldn’t matter whether the high school is in Delmar, Delaware or Delmar, Maryland,” Carozza said. “So, that will open up more scholarship opportunities for our Delmar students.”

The senate bill was also cross-filed with House Bill 845, sponsored by the Wicomico County Delegation. Both have passed their respective chambers and have been referred to a committee with hearings set for this week.
