Local Nonprofit Awards Three Cars to Families

SALISBURY, Md. — Three Wicomico County locals got the keys to new chapters today.

Vehicles for Change awarded three cars to local families today. The ceremony celebrated the families and their new vehicles, which will help them move forward with their careers and care for their families.

The nonprofit’s mission is to address the transportation barriers on the Eastern Shore, and support local families in need. Since its founding, the organization has awarded over 8,000 vehicles.

“On the Eastern Shore itself, there really is no public transportation. So, for family members to receive a car, it’s a big thing,” said Executive Director of Vehicles for Change Delmarva Gary Mitchell.

Vehicles for Change also trains people, including formerly incarcerated individuals, to become automotive technicians. They are always accepting vehicle donations of all kinds at its Salisbury location — if you’re interested in donating, visit www.VehiclesForChange.org
