Juvenile Arrested for Stealing, Crashing Car in Seaford

SEAFORD, Del. – The Seaford Police Department (SPD) has arrested a juvenile for crashing a stolen car on Tuesday night.

At 8:10 p.m. on Mar. 24, officers responded to Planet Fitness on Norman Eskridge Highway for a report of a stolen vehicle. The owner described the stolen car as a black Cadillac with Delaware registration.

Shortly after, at 8:44 p.m., the Delaware State Police was dispatched alongside SPD officers to a motor vehicle roll-over crash in the area of Bridgeville and Sussex Highways. Upon arrival, officers determined that the vehicle involved was the aforementioned stolen motor vehicle. Additionally, officers learned the driver was seen fleeing south along Bridgeville Highway.

At 9:34 p.m., SPD was contacted by a concerned citizen, who reported dropping off a subject in the area of Middleford Road and Old Furnace Road. The caller said they drove for a ride-sharing company, and upon picking up the subject, he told the driver he had been in an accident in a stolen vehicle just prior to getting in the car.

Officers responded to the area and located a juvenile suspect matching the description walking in the area. The juvenile was taken into custody without incident. He is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, theft under $1,500, driving without a valid license, and related charges. The juvenile was released to a parent with a scheduled arraignment in Family Court.
