Flagship Oceanfront Hotel to Close and be Demolished
OCEAN CITY, Md. – The Flagship Oceanfront Hotel is closing after decades of serving Ocean City tourists and residents alike.
In a message posted to social media, the hotel announced the closure while teasing a project coming in the future.
“We are incredibly grateful to every guest, team member, and partner who made this place so special,” the post reads. “While it’s never easy to say goodbye, we’re also looking ahead with excitement. This space will soon be reimagined into something new, creating even more opportunities for memories in the years ahead.”
The hotel confirmed that the current building, originally constructed in 1964, will be torn down. However, ownership for the new hotel in its place will remain the same. According to Mar. 2024 meeting minutes, the Ocean City Planning and Zoning Commission voted to approve site plans for a Springhill Suites by Marriott at the location.
Guests hoping to stay at the Flagship Oceanfront Hotel are encouraged to check out sister properties in the City.
