Dover Senators fall to St. Georges in Delaware State Semi-Finals

NEWARK, Del. – Dover Hoops made it to the Delaware State Semifinal game, and they played number 4 seeded St. Georges Hawks in a huge game. Coming into the tournament, the Senators held the coveted number 1 seeded spot.

The game took place at Bob Carptenter Center, stands packed with Dover faithful. Early, Chase Little with the steal, and he goes all the way to the cup. He led Dover with 24 in the game.

Ayden Davis for St. Georges, time winding down, and he sent a heave from deep, and he sinks it from way downtown to beat the buzzer. That put the Hawks up 19 to 17 after the first quarter.

The Hawks would lead Dover by 3 at halftime. Big shots from the Hawks all night, they played like a team with a ton to prove. 2nd half, Elijah Coates swipes it away – checks his rearview and rises up for the two-handed flush.

But Dover’s too good to go away quietly, Little tied up inside, he finds Kameron Jackson-Dickson, who knocks it down from beyond the arc.

Senators still trail with under a minute to play – and it’s Joshua Obiora with the rejection – that’s St. Georges ball and that was your game — the Hawks take down a heavyweight with a 63 to 57 win over the Dover Senators in the DIAA Semifinals.

St. Georges the first Delaware team to beat Dover this season – and denying the Senators a 3rd straight state championship appearance.
