(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – There is history on tap as a local organization is set to usher in spring with a day long celebration.

It’s all part of the Dorchester County Historical Society’s Maryland Day. First, there’s colonial fun for all ages…

With the Historical Society saying you can ‘Party like it’s 1776.’

But the real throwback comes later in the day for history buffs as the group holds the start of a series of Tavern Nights throughout the year; the first of which will be a Maryland 250 event.

“But from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., it is a 21 plus only audience. It will be our first tavern night, where we like to say, you can raise a glass to the past and, drinks, food and period music here within the Meredith House,” says Historical Society Director, Marcos Salaverria.

The Hisorical Society is planning to hold several of these Tavern Nights throughout the spring and summer.

With their goal being to evoke the sense of community that was present during the nation’s founding.

Marcos tells WMDT, “It’s a chance to meet your neighbors. And certainly after this tough winter, we might defrost a little bit as we look to the approach of America’s 250, birthday coming in July.”

Maryland Day kicks off at the Meredith House in Cambridge this Saturday at 11 A.M.
