Discover Delmarva Arts: Freeman Arts Pavilion
SELBYVILLE, Md. — At the Freeman Arts Pavilion, the arts come alive each summer. But this year, the venue is getting a major upgrade. With a brand-new stage, new seating, and even better views, the pavilion is preparing for one of its most exciting seasons yet.
“We’ve never had a facility that has had permanence to it. It’s had permanence in mission, but not in physicality, so this will give many options for patrons when they come to the Freeman Arts Pavilion,” said Patti Grimes, executive director of the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation.
This transformation isn’t just about a new look — it’s about reimagining the entire guest experience, from the first note to the encore. “We’re going to have this beautiful grove area with food trucks again, which is always a staple when you come here. Then, as you approach the lawn, it’s a raised seating area, and the views are going to be spectacular.”
On the list of performers taking the stage this summer is Matteo Bocelli, who will kick off the season, followed by Little Big Town, Go Go Gadjet, KC and the Sunshine Band, and more. A can’t-miss event is This is Delaware, a celebration in honor of the First State’s 250th birthday.
“That’s the great thing about the Freeman Arts Pavilion; there’s something for everyone, and we have a diversity of genres,” Grimes said.
Grimes added that they want everyone to participate in and engage with the arts. “Creating a community where people come together. So, we invite everyone to come out and be part of a vibrant arts community. The Freeman Arts Pavilion transforms lives, and we do that by making sure that everyone feels welcome when they’re here and that everyone has access to the arts.”
