Bethany Beach Vol. Fire Co. Extinguishes Chimney Fire in Millville

MILLVILLE, Del. – The Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company responded to the Blackwater Village Community for a chimney fire on Sunday evening.

At 6:09 p.m. on Mar. 29, the Sussex County 911 Center dispatched crews to the 33000 block of Shawnee Drive for a reported chimney fire. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a one-story, single-family residence with active fire coming from the top of chimney. Crews initiated an aggressive fire attack and began opening up the affected areas to locate the extent of the fire. Upon further investigation, firefighters discovered fire extending through the wall voids. Through coordinated efforts, crews were able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire, preventing further spread throughout the residence.

No injuries were reported in the residence or with emergency personnel. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene and is reportedly investigating the cause of the fire.
