78-Year-Old Man Killed in Car Crash on Coastal Highway; OCPD Investigating
OCEAN CITY, Md. – Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday night that claimed the life of a 78-year-old man.
At 10:05 p.m. on Mar. 4, the Ocean City Police Department responded to the area of 122nd Street and Coastal Highway for a motor vehicle collision.
Lifesaving efforts were initiated by bystanders on the scene, and were continued by Ocean City Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The victim, who was from Ocean View, Delaware, was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS personnel. Two additional individuals were transported to TidalHealth with non-life-threatening injuries.
The collision spanned several northbound and southbound lanes of Coastal Highway, resulting in multiple lane closures and the establishment of a traffic pattern. Northbound Coastal Highway was reduced to one lane for approximately three hour. Southbound traffic at 123rd Street remained closed for approximately six hours while the Traffic Safety Unit conducted a thorough investigation.
Police say a crash investigation remains active and ongoing.
