19-Year-Old Arrested on Drug, Gun Charges in Dover

DOVER, Del. – On Friday afternoon, the Dover Police Department arrested a 19-year-old from Wilmington on gun and drug charges.

Police arrested Ahmeer Ledbetter on charges of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to deliver heroin, tampering with physical evidence, and related charges. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $183,000 cash bond.

At 4:33 p.m. on Mar. 20, patrol officers responded to the 100 Block of South New Street for a report of an armed subject in the area. Police attempted to contact the subject, later identified as Ledbetter, who fled on foot before being apprehended shortly after. Officers located a loaded .40 caliber handgun and 7.17 grams of heroin that Ledbetter discarded during the foot chase.
