DOVER, Del. – The Delaware State Police arrested a 19-year-old in connection with carjacking that occurred on Sunday evening.

Police arrested Malik Woodall of Dover on charges of third degree assault and second degree robbery of a motor vehicle. He has since been arraigned and released on a $1,000 unsecured bond.

At 5:40 p.m. on Mar. 8, troopers responded to a report of a carjacking at Redner’s, located on Salt Creek Drive. When troopers arrived, they spoke with a 20-year-old male victim, who reported being approached by a suspect wearing a mask and black clothing who asked to use his phone. As the victim handed the phone to the suspect, later identified as Woodall, he punched the victim and tried to prevent him from getting out of his car. When the victim got out of the car, the two began to fight. Woodall allegedly took the victim’s phone and car after the victim ran inside the store for help. The victim reportedly suffered minor injuries.

A witness to the incident followed Woodall, in the victim’s car, to a residence on New Street in Dover. Troopers arrived a short time later and took Woodall into custody without incident.
