Zoo Crew Program Offers Teens Hands-On Experience at Salisbury Zoo
SALISBURY, Md. — The Salisbury Zoo is offering local teens an opportunity to gain real-world experience in animal care, education and conservation through its upcoming Zoo Crew volunteer program.
Designed for ages 14 to 17, the four-week, job-style program gives participants a behind-the-scenes look at daily zoo operations while building practical workplace skills. Sessions run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the specific schedule to be determined.
Zoo officials say participants will work alongside staff members, assist with animal care and husbandry tasks, and support educational programs for visitors. The program also emphasizes professional development, helping teens strengthen teamwork, responsibility and time-management skills.
Enrollment requires a minimum commitment of two days per week, along with completion of at-home coursework. Prospective participants must complete an interview, and space is limited.
The registration fee is $50. Applications are due by April 24.
More information about the Zoo Crew program and other educational opportunities is available on the Salisbury Zoo’s website.
